Granada is a city you don’t just visit - you truly experience it. We’re sharing our favorite day, including practical tips, so you can make the most of your trip. Did you know that Granada actually means pomegranate?

If you’re arriving by car, we recommend Parking La Paz. This garage is located right in the city center, so you’ll be in the heart of Granada straight away. From here, you can walk toward the Alhambra through the charming streets of the Albaicín. This is one of Granada’s most beautiful neighborhoods, with narrow alleys, whitewashed houses, and viewpoints such as the Mirador de San Nicolás. In this district, you’ll feel the Moorish history everywhere - and it’s totally Instagram-worthy.

No visit to Granada is complete without the Alhambra. Our advice is to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon. That way, you’ll enjoy the best light for photos, and the large tour groups will have already left. The Nasrid Palaces and the Generalife Gardens are absolute highlights, so take your time to explore them. Be sure to book your tickets well in advance on the official website, and don’t fall for the Tours & Tickets scams! Here’s the official Alhambra site: https://tickets.alhambra-patronato.es/en/.

Food & Drink

There are plenty of great places to eat, depending on what you’re in the mood for. Bodega Casa Castañeda (https://casacastaneda.es), for example, is an iconic tapas bar in Granada that’s been around since 1927. It’s the oldest bodega in the city. With every drink, you’ll get a free tapa, and the menu offers both hot and cold dishes from traditional cuisine. It’s often very busy, so you’ll need a little patience to soak up the authentic atmosphere.

Another great restaurant tip is El Trillo (https://www.restaurante-eltrillo.com): a charming, family-run gem tucked away in the picturesque Albaicín district, offering stunning views of the Alhambra. On the menu you’ll find fresh fish, tender lamb, risottos, and a variety of seasonal dishes, alongside vegetarian and vegan options. Dining in the garden terrace, with the Alhambra as your backdrop, makes El Trillo not just a meal but an unforgettable Granada experience.

Shopping

On Calle Reyes Católicos and Calle Recogidas you’ll find well-known Spanish retail chains for a good shopping spree. A unique spot in Granada is the Alcaicería Bazaar. Here, the Moorish influence is unmistakable - it feels almost like stepping into the Middle East. You’ll find ceramics, spices, and other local treasures.

Ceramics

A fun souvenir to take home is a set of colorful tapas bowls decorated with the famous pomegranate motif. Granada’s ceramics are world-renowned for the Fajalauza style, a tradition dating back to the 16th century. This style is characterized by vibrant blue and green tones, often combined with the symbol of the pomegranate. Much of the pottery is still handmade in small workshops, making each piece unique and infused with Andalusian history and Moorish influence. Our favorite shop is Cerámica Los Arrayaneshttps://ceramicalosarrayanes.com.

We hope our perfect day inspires you to create your own memories in Granada - a city you simply have to see to truly understand its diversity!
